BLACK HILLS MOUNT RUSHMORE
LODE GOLD VEIN
MINING CLAIM OWNERSHIP
This is a legally registered, 20.66 acre gold and gem, LODE Mining Claim for sale, the Rushmore Jewel Lode #16, with a quartz/gold mineral vein running thru the claim for 1500 feet.
15 miles from the town of Custer, an Old West town with all the necessities.
This area of the Black Hills has a definite feeling of the Old West where Cowboy Culture still lives on, in an area where Buffalo still roam free.
Located on a side road from the main road, adding to the claim privacy.
This is my last mining claim in South Dakota.
Buyer will receive after final payment a Free Prospecting Kit: see picture of this kit with the top listing pictures:
15 Piece Geology Rock Pick Hammer Kit, Rock Hounding Equipment:
32 oz Hammer, Gear Shovel, Musette Bag, Compass, Wooden Chisel, 3 Piece Digging Chisels Set for Rock Hounding, Gold Mining, Prospecting.
Camp on your claim in large open areas off the road, or at area National Forest campgrounds.
Just 6 miles NE of the Jewel Cave National Monument with public access.
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is about 38 miles NE.
The Crazy Horse Memorial is about 18 miles NE.
Badlands National Park is about 2 hours East.
Located in gold rich Custer County.
Gold prices have reached an all time high of over $4000 per ounce.
We feel we are selling more than the gold and minerals on beautiful land.
You would be acquiring an experience that will give you a good feel for what the old time prospectors must have felt during the days of the original Montana Gold Rush.
A mining claim is an affordable way to enjoy the beauty of the land combined with the adventure of panning for gold.
It is a good sign here that experienced prospectors have lode claims in this same area and we are also in a great position for gold.
See further down the listing the Buying Process, my owner financing options to choose from, and how to purchase my claim.

National Forests remained open at all times during the virus with a televised invitation by the Director for families to visit them as safe places for family recreation, making our mining claims soe of the safest places for your family to enjoy and get away from all the nonsense.
A lode claim differs from our placer claims, as on a lode claim you can dig into the mountain side and can even go to the extent of building a mine shaft.
Having a lode claim is an advantage as you can dig into the claim with a shaft if you choose.
Our lode claim has veins of valuable minerals including gold in veins (called lodes) cutting thru rocks. Quartz and gold are frequently found together and digging into the quartz vein is called chasing the vein.
A vein of quartz/gold runs thru the claim from South to North.
We also found the gems, Rose Quartz, the state mineral, Feldspar, and Blue-Green Tourmaline.
On the claim I found a quartz vein with gold traces in the rock.
Pick and shovel, rock hammer, metal detector, and is hard rock mining.
I did not expose the whole vein, though was able to follow it going through the claim, intermittently.
Amounts of float (loose sliding rocks) are on the claim.
In lode mining claim prospecting, float refers to loose fragments of rock, ore, or mineral-bearing material that have broken off from a larger, solid bedrock deposit (or "lode") and have been transported downhill.
Finding float is a key first-step clue in prospecting because it indicates that a potentially richer vein of ore exists somewhere uphill from where the fragment was found.
The process of lode, hard rock mining, is the process where gold is extracted directly from the lode vein beneath the ground. Dig down about 3 feet as go through the claim, then pick, shovel, and rock hammer working the sides of that hole. Filling in the holes when leave the claim as required by the national forest.
For the use of any machinery, you need to file a Plan of Operation with the BLM for approval.
Scratch your rock ore against an unglazed white ceramic streak plate.
If it's gold, it will leave a golden streak. Or scratch the surface of the specimen with a knife. Gold is a soft metal that will show scratch marks.
Our claim is a great area for gold and gem prospecting.
There are many well known South Dakota attractions within driving distance of this beautiful Black Hills area.
Pine forest is on part of the claim.
Beautiful Sylvan Lake 24 miles NE has many water activities.
TOWN OF CUSTER
Custer, the oldest town in the Black Hills, is located near many of the Black Hills best attractions. Situated on the edge of Custer State Park, one of the largest state parks in America, Custer is close to adventure. When you stay in a Custer hotel, youre less than 30 miles from Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, Black Elk Peak, Iron Mountain Road and the Needles Highway.

From Mount Rushmore to Badlands National Park and beyond you can experience monumental works of man and nature in one place.
The Black Hills of South Dakota are home to five national parks and monuments, including Mount Rushmore, the Shrine of Democracy.
This is a region of infinite variety, with scenic byways, historic Old West towns, Native American culture, gaming and a wealth of attractions.
This area is also a craft beer and winemaking hotspot.
Youll find multiple wineries on the Highway 385 wine trail between Hill City and Deadwood, while quality breweries are dotted across the region.
BLACK HILLS GOLD RUSH
After Horatio Ross discovered gold along a creek in the Black Hills in the 1870s, one of the last great gold rushes descended into this area of South Dakota.
The Black Hills Gold Rush took place in Dakota Territory in the United States.
It began in 1874 following the Custer Expedition and reached a peak in 187677.
The first arrivals were a force of 1,000 men led by George Armstrong Custer to investigate reports that the area contained gold, even though the land was owned by the Sioux. This would begin Custers conflicts with Native American Tribes.
In the ensuing decades, people have continued to find pockets of gold in the Black Hills.
The largest and deepest mine in the Western Hemisphere, Homestake Mine netted some 41 million ounces of gold in its 126 years of operation.
SOUTH DAKOTA ROCKHOUNDING
In South Dakota youll be excited to learn that there are some truly amazing rocks and minerals to find. Most of the best rockhounding sites are in and around the Black Hills.
The highlight of South Dakota rockhounding is undoubtedly the highly prized and valuable Fairfield agate, a variety of agate noted for its vibrant colors and distinctive fortification banding. These agates are named after the town of Fairfield around which they are most commonly found, and they are very popular with lapidary artists and collectors.
Gems to be found are Agates, Rose Quartz, Jade, Jasper, Calcity crystals, Amethyst, Tourmaline, and Blue Chalcedony.
One of the biggest reasons rockhounds flock to South Dakota is the wide variety of rocks and minerals that can be found here. Many collectors are interested in the Fairburn agates and rose quartz the state is famous for.
This western part of SOUTH DAKOTA is a rockhound and vacation paradise and has several important gem and mineral deposits in addition to the famous gold deposits of the Black Hills.
JEWEL CAVE NATIONAL MONUMENT
Beneath the Black Hills of South Dakota is the intriguing underground world of Jewel Cave. With over 202 miles of explored passageway, Jewel Cave ranks as one of the longest caves in the world.
Brilliant color and fragile rocks reveal an amazing ecosystem not visible anywhere else. The third longest cave in the world has much to offer to a wide range of those interested in its natural glory.
The splendor of this underground wilderness is revealed through fragile formations and glimpses of brilliant color. The maze of passages lures explorers, and its scientific wealth remains a mystery. This resource is truly a jewel in the National Park Service.

Wind Cave National Park protects two distinct worlds that couldn't be more different yet are forever connected: a vibrant mixed-grass prairie ecosystem stretching across rolling hills above, and one of theworld's most complex cave systems hidden beneath your feet. Established in 1903 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Wind Cave became America's eighth national park and the first created specifically to protect a cave. Spanning 33,851 acres of pristine Black Hills landscape, this remarkable park offers visitors a chance to experience the natural wonders of South Dakota from multiple perspectives. Above ground, one of the largest remaining natural mixed-grass prairies in the United States provides habitat for iconic American wildlife including bison, elk, pronghorn, and prairie dogs. Below ground, more than 150 miles of mapped passages (with new sections discovered yearly) create a three-dimensional maze adorned with rare formations found nowhere else on Earth in such abundance.
Agriculture
The open benches and meadow ground across the ranch support hay production and seasonal grazing in the rotation established under the current ownership. The combination of improved pasture, winter protection, and water makes the property adaptable to small-scale cattle, horse, or mixed livestock operations without the capital outlay required to develop agricultural infrastructure from a bare land purchase. Perimeter and division fencing, a corral system, and stock water from wells, springs, and ponds are already in place. The property's agricultural utility is complementary to its recreational program. A buyer can run a modest cattle or horse operation alongside active hunting. The ranch is not presently leased or being grazed by the seller allowing the new owner to fully utilize the ranch..
Buyers seeking specific hay production history, carrying capacity estimates, or grazing rotation data are encouraged to request that information from the seller during the due diligence period.
Water/Mineral Rights & Natural Resources
The ranch has three wells and multiple ponds providing water for domestic use, livestock and wildlife. The well at the main house was drilled in 2015 to a depth of 300 feet. The static water level of this well is 150 feet and produces over 30 gallon of water per minute.
Mineral and subsurface rights currently held by the seller shall be conveyed to a new owner. A mix of ponderosa pine and mixed hardwood stands populate the canyon slopes. Open benches carry native and introduced grasses consistent with the Black Hills transition zone.
General Operations
Burnt Wood Creek Ranch is not presently leased or being grazed by the seller allowing the new owner to fully utilize the ranch.
The seller is making known to all potential purchasers that there may be variations between the deeded property lines and the location of the existing fence boundary lines on the subject property. Seller makes no warranties about location of the fence lines in relationship to the deeded property lines, nor does the seller make any we have to get some things placed warranties or representations about specific acreage within the fenced property lines. Seller is selling the property in an as is condition which includes the location of the fences as they exist.
