Mr. Van Eaton became a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the board of the Methodist Church for many years. After his death in 1935, his wife managed the Van Eaton property until her death in 1955 when half of the land passed to Archer Van Eaton McMurtry and her husband Jo McMurtry. The other half passed to Annie Maud Van Eaton James.
The original land remains in the Van Eaton and James families.
